NAPA VALLEY'S LANDFILL DIVERSION SPECIALISTS
RECOVERY & SALVAGE - We can also assist with the design and execution of reuse, recycling, and other waste diversion programs for your home and office.
eco-Organize™ provides options for extending the lifecycle of common household items, building materials, and architectural elements. Whether working with our neighbors or local waste management and government agencies, we do whatever we can to keep things out of landfill.
Oftentimes, reusable items are brought to us for redistribution. We accept donations of many new and lightly-used items. AN APPOINTMENT MUST BE MADE PRIOR TO DROP-OFF. CALL (707) 258-8338 TO SCHEDULE. We do not purchase items. All items found in our retail outlet have been generously donated by our supporters or salvaged by our crew.
DIVERSION -
We offer alternatives to landfill for individuals and businesses. Landfill diversion means simply to keep things out of the waste stream. The waste stream is what fills our landfills. Reuse reins dominate in the hierarchy of waste management. Recycling is second. Why? Recycling requires the use of additional resources for processing. Reuse requires virtually none. When you buy something, consider the environmental impact- use of raw materials pollution causes by manufacturial, transportation, whatever the item, buying new impacts our environment. Among other things, extending the lifecycle of consumer goods and other materials cuts down on the environmental impact related to manufacturing and transport. Words to live by: recycling is vitally important, reuse is critical.
Our diversion avenues include reuse, repurposing, recycling, donating, and selling discarded items with the goal of redistribution within the Napa Valley.
eco-Organize™ accepts batteries for recycling.
DOWNSIZING -
We address decluttering, downsizing, and hauling challenges with eco-friendly solutions. Whether you are moving, liquidating an estate or business, or simply want to get your car back in the garage, we can help. We offer mentoring programs as well as full service, where we can handle everything for you.
To further aid our downsizing clients, we offer confidential and secure DOCUMENT SHREDDING.
DECONSTRUCTION -
We create and coordinate deconstruction plans for developers and builders with the goal of preservation instead of disposal.
eco-Organize™ can be an asset to any builder, particularly green builders. Construction debris diversion is required for LEED and Build It Green certification. At the same time, local governments are adding more stringent diversion requirements to their building codes. Our ability is provide diversion services allows our clients to concentrate on their trade instead of the logistical concerns created by governmental mandates and the desire to do the right thing.
For new construction, the interface between eco-Organize and builders is a natural. As a salvage outlet, we are a source for building materials. As landfill diversion specialists, we are a resource for deconstruction of existing structures, on- site waste management, and surplus material disposal.
For upgrading and building revitalization, we can assist builders with waste stream reduction programs. A large portion of our landfill waste is comprised of construction and demolition debris. Remodeling is a major contributor. From fixtures to windows and doors to lumber, many items removed and/or replaced during remodeling can be reused or repurposed. More often than not, these discards end up in landfill. Many of these items have toxic elements, are manufactured out of a non-renewable or endangered resource, or simply would take forever to decompose. Whether you are looking for building materials or trying to figure out what to do with the ones that you are replacing, eco-Organize™ may be able to help.
It is our hope with every project that salvaged materials will be reused or recycled. At the end of the project, you will receive an accounting of what went where that is in line with LEED Materials & Resources requirements.
We can provide deconstruction services in one of two ways or a combination of both.
• Hand deconstruction (or “soft-strip”) focuses on the removal of materials by hand with the primary goal of preservation for reuse or recycling. We attempt to remove as many reusable items as possible in a manner that does not destroy them for future use. In this process, we are dealing with materials like fixtures, doors, hardware, easily removable architectural elements, etc.
• Component deconstruction (or “hard-strip”) focuses on the removal of composite assemblies of the building. This is full deconstruction uses a variety of techniques to harvest as many reusable and recyclable elements for the overall building and includes things like framing, wiring, piping, flooring and roofing materials, etc.
Due to the nature of our work, we are typically first in, first out once the demolition process begins.
If you are working on a project, please consider calling us before you begin demolition. This call will likely increase the reusability of your donated items, lower costs, and reduce landfill.
